Funded by a grant from the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth, the YMCA will implement the Positive Action Program at Greensville Elementary School. The Positive Action Program is an evidence-based program that promotes positive actions for the whole self: physical, intellectual, social and emotional and improves students’ success, wellness, and happiness.
The YMCA offers Pre-School for children ages 3 & 4. The program is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services and features the Creative Curriculum, a nationally recognized, research-backed curriculum that emphasizes a hands-on, learn-by-play approach. Children receive individualized learning, structured daily schedules, morning and afternoon snacks and positive reinforcement.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CHILD CARE
The YMCA offers School Age Child Care for children ages 5-12. The program is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services and includes before and after-school care. Upon arriving at the YMCA, the kids receive a healthy snack, are assisted with their homework, participate in character values activities, have physical fitness time, and have access to the playground, computers, and creative play stations.
The YMCA Child Watch program provides childcare for children ages 3 months – 12 years old while the kids’ parents are in the facility working out. The service is free for household memberships and $2 per child for parents with single memberships. During Child Watch hours, the children are always supervised by two staff members and participate in creative free play.
